Olga Rodríguez Pomares (Elche, 1972), a PhD in Fine Arts from the University of Murcia, in 2011, with the Doctoral thesis entitled "Techniques and surface finishes on stone sculpture. Practical research with chemical and mechanical treatments in marble". Since 1997, she has held various group and individual exhibitions and has received different awards and scholarships, among which we can highlight the one awarded by the Valencia Provincial Council in the III Call for the "Difusió de les Arts Plàstiques" program of the SARC; the Leonardo Scholarship, awarded by the ADEIT, “Fundación Universidad-Empresa” of the University of Valencia, and developed in Ireland at the "West Cork Art Center"; the “Internazionale di Scultura” Symposium «Carrara Città Labotatorio. Scolpire all´Aperto», awarded by the Comune di Carrara, the predoctoral and postdoctoral fellowships received as a teacher (PDI) from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Murcia, for stays in foreign centers, such as the Accademia di Belle Arti di Carrara (Italy), the Faculty of Fine Arts of Ioannina (Greece), the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan or the Faculdade de Belas-Artes, University of Lisbon.
She publishes several books and articles in scientific magazines, and participates in conferences and research projects on art and sculpture. She has developed a teaching and research career (PDI) at the University of Murcia, teaching the subjects of "Sculpture", "Sculptural Procedures", "Carving" and "Sculptural Representations of the Human Body" at the Faculty of Fine Arts. She also perfoms research work at the Center Investigação e Estudos em Belas Artes (CIEBA) da FBAUL in Lisbon participating in projects and /or research contracts.
Academic background has clearly focused on sculpture, clay modeling, casting techniques working with different materials, marble and wood carving, but it also found a link with painting and restoration. Among the most recent solo exhibitions (2009 - 2019), it is worth mentioning: "Made in Italy" at Fuente Álamo (Murcia), "Viatjar sobre la pedra" in Elche; "Stone archeologies" in the ESPACIOS OCUPA^2 at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena; "Construcciones y Deconstrucciones" at ESUM Showroom of the University of Murcia; or "Marmoris. Transit in the soul of marble”, at the Museo Teatro Romano in Cartagena. Deserves special mention her participation in the group exhibition "Paisatges. Mirades Contemporànies", at the “Centro Municipal d´Exposicions d´Elx”, sharing exhibition space with artists such as Arcadi Blasco, Carmen Calvo, Antoni Miró, Manuel H. Mompó, Soledad Sevilla, Gustavo Torner, Fernando Zóbel among others. Or the one held in Alicante, "Homage to Miguel Hernández 75 x 75" with artists like Pepe Azorín, Joan Castejon, Toni Miró. The last exhibition was carried out in 2019, with a new Project; “Es-cultura: plural bodies” at the Casa Pintada Foundation – Cristóbal Gabarrón Museum. International group exhibitions, "Art al Vent", exhibited in Azambuja, Extremoz, Macedo de Cavaleiros and Tavira (Portugal) in Germany or Mexico City; "Arte Cisoria", exhibited at the Alicante Institute of Culture Juan Gil - Albert, Casa Bardín, Archaeological and History Museum of Elche "Alejandro Ramos Forqués" (MAHE), University of Ciudad Juárez, in Mexico, Galleria d'Arte Contemporanea del Liceo Artistico F. Figari de Sassari in Sardinia (Italy), Palazzo Regio de Cagliari in Sardinia (Italy), among others, ... In the last years she has exhibited in art galleries such as Hernández Art Gallery, in Milan, and in the Viki Blasco Gallery, in Gijón.
